So I thought I was done writing my blog. My class is over and I have no real reason other then keeping a record for myself all the different things I like.

I came across this group who do some really amazing work. This video was done just to celebrate the snowflake and the Christmas Season.

Im sure many people have seen this animation before. It was very popular a year or so ago. The song is by an Australian band called TISM short for "This Is Serious Mum." The music video was chosen during a competition. The winning animation was by Bernard Derriman featuring a sex deprived bunny. There is only one character who has not had sex more then this bunny and that is the keyboard player who is suspected to represent the keyboard player of TISM.

The animation is quite silly and quite funny. It is also some very well done flash animation.

Digital Kitchen

Based out of Seattle I have been on 3 studio tours and follow the company quite closely.

They have done some really nice titling sequences for television shows and many commercials.

This one is an animated holiday short and it is hilarious. A Disco Holiday.

A quoi ca sert l'amour?

One of my favorite short animations done by Louis Clichy from CUBE production company, "A quoi ca sert l'amour?"
Done with both 2D and 3D subtly to create a very nice piece of animation.

Some very cool illustration and motion work here by Kim Dulany. Don't really know too much about her but I like what I see.

Image a day?

Yes please! This site run by Sam Javanrouh is a view of his day to day visual experience. It is like a personal photoblog similar to flickr. He posts one photo every day along with a brief technical detail of each photo if you mouse over the images. He has won many blogger awards such as best canadian photoblog, and photoblog of the year.
(he has the same camera as me! and some of the same lenses, how exciting!)

Minilogue - Hitchhikers Choice

This animation by Kristofer Strome was done all with stop animation on a white board. For the hand drawn frames he took one picture a second as he was drawing.

The animation was done as a music video for Swedish group Minilogue. It is an atmospheric and underground group.

The General Motors Hywire

General motors has a very remarkable concept car call the Hy-Wire. Instead of an engine, it has a fuel cell stack. This powers an electric motor connected to the wheels. Instead of mechanical and hydraulic linkages, it has a drive by a wire system. So a computer actually operates the components that move the wheels, and the brakes. This is all based on a video game like steering wheel that can even be shifted to drive on the left or right side of the car.
This is the same system many Airplanes use.
My favorite part is the top can be exchanged for a a van like top or a sports car like top. so the entire function of the car changes! Everything that actually makes the car move along the road is housed in an 11-inch-thick aluminum chassis, think skateboard.

Day of the Week

This website selects random images that were submitted for each day of the week. If you were to refresh you would keep getting new graphics. For those of us who don't really like to sleep this website is a fun way of figuring out what day it is!

Oddly enough Friday seems to be the most popular day people post images for.

"Day of the week is a project that lets you know what day of the week it is. we often find it important to know this kind of information. please do the world a favor by submitting your own image for each day. how else are we supposed to know when to go to work and when to stay home?"

In Last Place

In last place is has some really cool print and video work. She has done some spots for TV channels and lots of work for VH1. Some of her print work has been printed in magazines and she even has some clothing with her work on it. Overall very creative stuff here.

Aqualtis

I found this commercial by French visual effects firm called BUF. The have done work on movies such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, or more recently The Prestige. They also do a lot of commercials and music videos. Here is one of my favorite commercials I have probably ever seen.
It won the Gold 2006 Cannes Lions Award.
